Thomas Cole Ohio Statehouse

Robert Loversidge to present at Columbus Museum of Art

Columbus Museum of Art (CMA) will present Thomas Cole: The Artist as Architect November 18, 2016 through February 12, 2017. This is the first exhibition to focus on the little-known fact that the renowned leader of the Hudson River School of American landscape painting realized three buildings and had plans for others before his untimely death. The exhibition also commemorates the recreation of Thomas Cole’s studio and includes paintings that reveal Cole’s architectural proclivity, drawings that document his recurrent focus […]

Hubbard Park Place

Hubbard Park Place: Short North Apartments and Office Space

Are you curious to know what’s going on at the corner of Park Street and Hubbard Avenue? What is now a hodgepodge of heavy equipment and concrete beams will soon be a brand new apartment and office building, called “Hubbard Park Place.” Schooley Caldwell designed this much-anticipated addition to the Short North/Italian Village area to contain 100+ apartment units, about 10,000 square feet of office space, and 155 parking spaces. Throughout the design process, one of Schooley Caldwell’s goals was […]

Lashutka Event Center to Be Completed in Fall of 2016

Planning a special event? You’ll want to see the new Gregory S. Lashutka Event Center! The Richards House (later the Dam Keeper’s House) was built in 1816 and is one of the oldest stone houses in the state. It sat vacant for many years and was on Columbus Landmarks Foundation’s list of Most Endangered Buildings in 2014; fortunately, the City of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department decided to convert it into a special event space and hired us to design […]

Progress at the Greater Columbus Convention Center

The work is really coming along at the Greater Columbus Convention Center! We’re happy to share a few photos: These are the Union Station ballrooms (formerly Grand Ballrooms 1, 2, and 3), which have undergone major upgrades, as you can see. Elsewhere, the connector linking the north and south concourses is getting ready for new flooring. And on the exterior, work is beginning on the new addition at the north end!

Holiday Cheer

For the second year in a row, we participated in the Salvation Army’s Adopt-A-Family program for the holidays. This is a humbling and emotional effort for us. It reminds us how grateful we should be every day – both for the things we have and for the opportunity to help others. The family we adopted was homeless earlier this year and they have two young children. Thanks to help from the Salvation Army, they do have a home now but […]

A Very Grand Opening for Chillicothe’s Carlisle Building

The grand opening for the Carlisle Building was held in Chillicothe on October 19th, and hundreds of people came to check out the freshly renovated 1885 building, which now houses offices of Adena Health System and 32 apartments for medical students and visiting physicians. The Carlisle Building had withstood decades of neglect, and a fire in 2003, but developer The Chesler Group decided to rehabilitate it and hired Schooley Caldwell to design its transformation, which has been dramatic! Here are some […]
