Columbus Cultural Arts Center

This transformation of an old Civil War era arsenal demonstrates the potential for adaptive use of significant historic buildings. Placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, the building was renovated to allow public art activities to be grouped by function and noise level, without sacrificing spaciousness, and providing flexibility for the many performance, visual, and creative arts programs that are housed in the building. The exterior courtyard was landscaped to provide outdoor special event space.
