U.S. Embassy - New Delhi, India

This world-class, modern classic was designed in 1958 by architect Edward Durell Stone. Time, circumstances and budget considerations contributed to the need for a Comprehensive Master Plan for the 35-acre embassy compound. The Master Plan, a two-year collaborative effort with Kabil Associates, covered all properties owned or leased by the U.S. government in New Delhi and was an action-oriented, detailed series of recommended renovation and construction projects. Proposed improvements included enhanced working conditions and office efficiency, improved security, a sensitive addition for the consular section, renovated housing units, restoration of Roosevelt House (the Ambassador’s residence), and restoration of the original ambiance of the compound.
