William Oxley Thompson Memorial Library Renovation and Expansion

Schooley Caldwell worked with Acock Associates (Architect of Record) and Gund Partnership (Design Architect) to design and specify furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) for the award-winning renovation of the 307,000-square-foot William Oxley Thompson Memorial Library at The Ohio State University. During the first phase of our work, we were responsible for the inventory of existing library FF&E and space planning for library swing space (194,000 square feet) to be used by staff and students during the three-year construction period.

The second phase of our work involved the design and specification of FF&E for the renovated building.  Schooley Caldwell developed a plan for the reuse of selected existing furniture pieces along with the selection and specifications for new shelving and furniture estimated at $6.5M.
